About Galloway Downs

Tucked on the edge of the “Gateway to the Rainforest,” Galloway Downs is 50 acres of gently rolling hills, wide open skies, and the kind of simple farm life that lets you slow down, breathe deep, and reconnect with the things that matter.

Enjoy the simple pleasures

Living with intention and enjoying the journey— that’s what life at Galloway Downs is really all about. Our gates are open for you to explore the paddocks, gather around the fire, or simply disconnect and soak in the slower pace.

Whether you’re collecting eggs with the kids, sharing a sunset picnic, or stargazing after pizza night, everything here moves to a quieter rhythm. No hustle, no bustle.

This is the kind of life we love out here. Simple, grounding, and full of small moments that leave a big impression. Here is a taste of what we love – we reckon you’ll love it too:

Join us for feed time, collect fresh eggs, or simply watch the farmyard antics unfold from the verandah.

As a working farm, you might also catch us moving cattle or working with the horses—you’re more than welcome to watch it all unfold.

Fresh, delicious, and in season. Grab a bite from the garden, kick off your boots by the fire, and savour the abundance of the land — it’s the kind of goodness that gently pulls you away from the chaos of everyday life.

You’ll be surprised how much the kids can entertain themselves with space to run and roll.

Venture into town and you’ll find a warm reminder of what it feels like to grow up in a connected community — where everyone says hello and is more than happy to point you in the right direction.

Kyogle is small but has everything you need to make your trip enjoyable.

The Farm

Spread over 50 acres of rolling hills, Galloway Downs is a small working farm, home to a mix of animals and plenty of day-to-day activity. From the Belted Galloways grazing the paddocks to the horses in the yards, there’s always something happening.

This isn’t a commercial operation — it’s a hands-on, working property, while guest stays remain private and relaxed. Things aren’t always perfectly polished, but that’s part of what makes it feel genuine.

Our Story

Galloway Downs is a working farmstay built on a simple idea — to create a place where slowing down feels natural, and time to reconnect comes easily.

Five years ago, Alicia made the move from the city to the farm and began building a different kind of life — one shaped by the land, the seasons, and a lot of hands-on learning along the way.

What started as a personal shift has grown into something to share. Today, Galloway Downs offers a genuine rural stay — a place to switch off, settle in, and enjoy a quieter pace for a while.

It’s time to dust off the dress and pull on your 'fancy' boots—Woodenbong Rodeo is back! After 23 years without a bucking bull in sight, the buzz is building around Kyogle. Who knows… we might even give boot scootin’ a go.

Why Kyogle is the Country Town You Didn’t Know You Needed

A Different Kind of Sheep Dip

What started as a peaceful shower turned into a naked sheep rescue I’ll never forget. One flailing ewe, one very startled farm girl, and a poolside moment of pure, unfiltered chaos. Welcome to life Behind the Feed—where productivity meets paddock mayhem.
